PILGEIMAGE TO MAZU

The first article of the "Yihan Project" of Longlati Art Center: The artist measured the "signs (of the deity)" of Mazu in a travelogue style. Starting from the Tianhou Palace in Jinzhou, Liaoning Province (located at the northern end of China), along the coastline, it returned to Meizhou Island - the birthplace of Lin Mo (the original name of Mazu). In a sketching manner, the artist transmitted the text, images and manuscripts in real time to the exhibition hall. Using a method of group collaboration, the artist jointly composed an exhibition that was non-deterministic. The conventional methodology from the studio to the exhibition hall was transformed into the studio being the entire universe, in order to prove that action is the source of creativity. The ocean, as a medium connecting the world, is full of allure and danger, but it is also the time when faith and certainty are born.
The first part of the "Huan Ya Project" aims to explore the influence and traces of Mazu culture along the coastline. Travelers return "messages" via various media from the seaside and present them in the exhibition hall.
