WANG Chen: Touching Red
Arario Gallery
3.14 - 5.19.2026

Arario Gallery is pleased to announce Touching Red, a solo exhibition by artist Wang Chen, on view from March 14 to May 9, 2026.
This exhibition marks a retrospective of Wang Chen’s artistic practice in recent years. Through three-screen video installations and newly created wooden sculptures, the artist constructs a “Third Space” situated between raw material textures and digital illusions. In this body of work, Wang Chen expands her perspective to a more macroscopic process of “becoming”, exploring how life continuously manifests, transforms, and persists amid the loosening and reconfiguration of order.
The exhibition documents an important shift in Wang Chen’s sculptural practice. The introduction of wood is not a replacement for her previous material experiments; rather, wood retains direct, biological fiber textures that naturally align with her ongoing theme of “symbiosis”.
Her wooden sculpture series Touch possesses an "impersonal” quality, hovering ambiguously at the boundary between animals, insects, and wooden structures. The patches of blue applied selectively onto the sculptural surfaces act like “blue screens” interspersed within physical matter, visually opening a gap into a virtual dimension. This blue is more than just color—it is a space of infinite imagination, symbolizing a future still in formation.
